The Autumn Invitational - 20 Years of trust
Back in early 2005, as a group of lads from Sydney talked about starting an annual golf trip, Darren Llewellyn, the leading protagonist and visionary decided that the “event” needed to be treated with respect; a name, a logo and the brand was created.
A particularly ugly yet appropriate “one sized” Green Jacket was found in a dark corner of the Glebe Markets, to be presented to the winner, with their name embroidered and passed on each year to the next champion. The Autumn Invitational was born!
Fortunately for our group, friend and fellow golfer Matt Fitzpatrick and his wife Karen had recently opened Australia’s first Embroidme store at North Sydney. So, Embroidme were tasked with digitizing the logo and creating the annual “look” for the trip. Over the years, “The Autumn Invitational” has sported, red, yellow, black, orange, grey, teal, 2 greens and 3 blue polos, beige water resistant jumpers, black zippered vests, knit pullovers, caps, beanies and more. Attendees who achieve 10 years of participation have earned a personalized bag. And for the 20th anniversary this May, each will receive a waterproof Syzmik rain jacket and Stormtech Kiwi Heather beanie - appropriate as the lads are heading to the cold and wind of King Island, Tasmania.
With the help of Embroidme and now Fully Promoted, the memories of weekends long gone can be re-lived time and again. For me, the sight of our light green polo from Bonville reminds us that Digger Pike, then a spritely 72 years of age, defied the odds to add his name to the list of champions. The electric blue shirt of the Kooindah Waters trip reminds everyone of the day a man named Meek, possibly the least likely of all of the champions so far, ensured the #neverngy curse continued. The beige jumper stands as a reminder your author won at Magenta Shores and took the jacket on a year long tour of the world.
