Cool Breeze, Cool Dry, Aero Weave… What’s the Difference?

7 November, 2025 by Caroline Robertson

When you’re looking for uniforms that feel comfortable in warm weather, you’ll often come across fabrics with names like Cool Breeze, Cool Dry, Aero Mesh, or DriGear. Each supplier has their own branded term, but the principle behind the fabric is essentially the same: a lightweight, breathable polyester designed to help manage heat and moisture throughout the day.

So if the names vary, what should you actually look for?

The Purpose of These Fabrics

These performance fabrics are created to keep the wearer comfortable in hot or active environments — think:

  • Hospitality staff moving constantly

  • Tradies working outdoors

  • Delivery teams on the go

  • Community groups or sports teams

The key idea: let heat and moisture escape, while the fabric stays light and easy to wear.

How the Fabric Works

The structure of the weave is the real hero.

These fabrics are made with tiny, micro-mesh or open-weave patterns that:

  • Allow air circulation

  • Pull moisture away from the skin

  • Dry faster than traditional cotton blends

The result is a shirt or polo that feels cooler, weighs less, and keeps the wearer looking neat even when the day gets busy.

So Why All the Different Names?

In the promotional apparel industry, each supplier likes to brand their performance fabric differently.

A few examples you might see:

  • Biz Collection: Cool Breeze / BIZCOOL

  • Aussie Pacific: Cool Dry

  • JB’s Wear: Podium Cool

  • AS Colour: Performance blends with moisture-wicking technology (no flashy name, understated as always)

Different names. Same goal.

It’s a bit like different coffee roasters selling “light roast” — same category, slightly different interpretations.

Choosing the Right Garment

This is where we help.

We’ll bring the samples, explain the differences, and make sure you end up with uniforms that suit your team, your brand, and your working conditions.
