Rebranding for the New Year: The Importance of Logo Refresh, Colour Matching & Updated Decoration Files

3 December, 2025 by Arun Marappan

The beginning of a new year provides an ideal opportunity for organisations to evaluate the accuracy and consistency of their brand assets. Over time, logos, colour palettes and decoration files often become fragmented across multiple suppliers, software versions or outdated artwork. Conducting a structured brand refresh can significantly improve consistency across uniforms, promotional products and digital platforms.

One of the first steps in this process is reviewing the master logo file. Many businesses discover they only have low-resolution images, legacy artwork, or outdated variations. A professional clean-up involves re-establishing vector artwork, confirming clearspace rules, refining edges and standardising all brand elements for modern use. These updates ensure sharper embroidery, clearer print application and better scalability across different materials.

Colour matching is another central component. Brand colours should be mapped to Pantone (PMS) references rather than generic colour names. PMS references provide industry-standard accuracy for embroidery threads, screen printing inks, digital CMYK output and sublimation processes. When organisations rely on approximate colours, inconsistencies can appear between garments, signage and promotional merchandise. Implementing PMS-based specifications eliminates these discrepancies.

Updating embroidery and print files is also essential. Embroidery digitising files (.DST or .EMB) produced several years ago may not be optimised for today’s garment fabrics or thread technology. Re-digitising ensures cleaner stitching, reduced thread breaks and improved legibility—particularly for small text or intricate logos. Similarly, re-exporting print files in the correct vector format supports sharper results, regardless of the product.

A coordinated brand refresh ensures all staff uniforms and promotional products reflect a unified, professional image from the start of the year. These adjustments not only enhance visual quality but also support long-term brand equity by reducing variation and maintaining precise visual standards.
